Michael J. Coakley, 32, died Saturday, December 16, 2017. He was the oldest child of Gael and Karen Hoffman Coakley of Latham.
Michael was a graduate of St. Gregory’s School for Boys and a 2004 graduate of Shaker High School. He spent a gap year in Malaga, Spain before returning to college at Northeastern University in Boston where he received his bachelor’s degree in International Affairs in 2010.
He enjoyed traveling, cooking, golf and was a Boston sports fan rooting for the Red Sox, Celtics and the Bruins. He loved his family and helped take care of his maternal grandmother, Claire.
In addition to his loving parents, he was the best brother to Claire C. (Brian) Groudine, Christopher G. Coakley and Timothy R. Coakley; beloved boyfriend of Denise M. Delaney; maternal grandson of Claire M. Waugh Hoffman and the late Robert A. Hoffman; paternal grandson of Betsy Coakley and the late Gael Coakley; godson of Deborah M. Hoffman. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and his cherished dog and cat, Mr. B and Pickles.
