“The Family Restored” started as a support group, run by addicts and alcoholics in recovery, for families currently dealing with family members in the active stages of addiction. The group has provided, and continues to provide, information on how best to deal with those individuals in crisis. During these hard times, the group found it imperative to do something more. We have set up a non-profit organization that will enable families who lack the financial means to send their loved ones to treatment for their alcoholism and addiction.
The Family Restored has been able to offer treatment and sober living scholarships to forty five individuals who would otherwise have no access to treatment options. In the past year, we have also extended our family support meeting to Duxbury, Massachusetts and Concord, New Hampshire; and the Portland meeting is going strong. Beginning this month, The Family Restored is facilitating an eight-week 12-step workshop in the women’s unit at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland. No other direct 12-step work is available to these inmates; we are excited to be providing this opportunity and plan to expand it to the men’s unit as well.
We have also added a treatment page to our website. This will assist families in finding quality 12-step based treatment in the New England Area, in addition to Public and State services. Treatment Page
Our organization will continue to support and educate families through our support group and are currently in the process of building an informative website. Our mission is to provide families with the best-known resources for help. Through our experience we know how difficult it is dealing with addiction on your own and want you to know you are not alone!
